This wk's supposedly mid term break but I guess it has been the busiest and most tiring wk for me ever since term started! Haha! In fact, the crazy week started ever since last tues actually. Was out everyday since then. 2.5 hrs of marketing subject pool was finally completed on wed. Thurs was interview day, Fri was NUS career fair day cum movie day (oh yeah... thanks for ur tangyuans by the way), Sat was interview and babysitting day, Sun was another full babysitting day and mon-wed was beautyasia work stint. The rest of this wk will be fully packed as well. Kinda dread looking at my organizer.... and well yeah... tt's how my wk's gonna be shaping up to be like.
Wow! Honestly, I'm already pretty exhausted, even though it's only midwk! Haha.. and in case u haven't already realised it, I've not included anything related to schoolwork into my schedule yet so yeah... I certainly deserve a good trashing. Haha...

Anyways, tt was the movie I caught the other day. Haha.. decided to support local films for once. It was alright. It wasn't fantastic but neither was it repulsive either. It was just ok. :) I thought tt jokes used in this film, just like the gun scene wasn't exactly the type of humour tt wld crack me up, but jokes tt wld make me just go 'oh ok.. i catch tt joke' but yet not laugh, u know what i mean? Haha.. but well, all in all, it's an ok film.
The 3 day part time stint was ok. Depending on what ur assigned to do and the ppl at ur station, the job may actually just turn out to be ok. But let's say u get stuck at a booth with many slackers, then well... happy new year to u. Haha. SL came up with an analogy tt ppl from our uni are just plain hardworking. I guess tt's true. Ok, well let's not point fingers here shall we. Anyways, to sum it up, it was a pleasant experience all in all. And SL did not regret working for these 3 days too! Haha... what made it all the more sweeter was the pleasant surprise abt the pay isn't it? Hahaha.. and being able to catch the actress JT is another plus too eh?
This was just one shot I took of SL during breakfast together, just before our day began. I bet she'd kill me if she knew of this blog's existence and her horrible pic here. But watever. HAHAHA! Meals were provided during the 3 days and I guess we're probably well known amongst the suntec staff by now. Haha... (inside joke) Oh yeah... something we learnt during this job was tt the direction of escalators can influence the flow of the crowd by SO MUCH. hahaha
Oh yeah and before I forget, beautyasia reunited me with claudia the santa claus! See the pic above? That's us at the booth. Haha... She's a really nice lady. Seeing and talking to her just felt so good. Oh! And before I forget, Thanks so much for ur lovely gift! I love it! If only Albertina was there as well! That wld have been a perfect reunion! Hahaha! I miss u Albertina! Anyways, on a sidenote, both Claudia and Albertina really made me think that Italians are probably one of the nicest ppl on earth! They're just so friendly and understanding. Absolutely no airs at all! Hopefully I'd be able to make it for the DFS this coming may. That wld have been really good. :)

I rmb blogging abt technical screw ups in an earlier entry before. Well, the past wk felt like dejavu all over again. This time the fault lies with the uni's IVLE system. It was down for almost a wk for me and tt, needless to say, brought a hell load of inconvenience of course. It was exasperating facing a blank page that seemed to be loading eternally every single time I signed in, whichever time of the day it was. None of the IVLE features, not a single one, was accessible during this period of time. That means, no printing of notes, no checking of announcements, no webcast lectures... URGH!
Everything was back to normal only days after I sent many emails to the IT ppl. In the process of it, I had to do some inputs to the cmd window etc. They seriously made me wonder if my system was down or if I needed to make some reconfigurations with my laptop. But thank gdness for daniel who told me tt it's most probably their server that was down cos he too faced the same problem and everything was back to normal in a couple of days time w/o him having to do anything. Anyways, I guess the IT ppl probably found me an irritant too. I mean, just check our email correspondences man! hahaha
But well.. watever. I'm just glad tt everything seems to have already stabilised for my acct. I mean at least till now. Haha *crosses fgrs*

We caught the chingay rehearsal the other day as well. Even though it wasn't the actual event, but boy.. it was still ultra crowded with loadsa ppl. And well, it did feel like the real thing actually.
I'm not sure what the theme was but perhaps it had something to do with the sea cos there were many floats that were sea creatures like fishes and octopuses. And of course, Ryan was fascinated by all of them! It kinda had a disneyland parade feel to it too actually cos there were also ppl on the floats waving to all of us.
What made the night even more special was the F1 racing car! There really was excitement in the air and everyone crowded around to catch the magnificent precious few moments of its wooooooooosh. It was really loud as it sped past us. Even its smell/smoke remained seconds after it left us. Ryan was the luckiest amongst us all I guess. Know why? I only managed to hear and smell the F1 car. But he managed to have them all including seeing it cos I lifted him high up to the sky with nothing short of the best views and freshest air available then. Isn't he a fortunate boy? Imagine how ex a ticket to catch the F1 car up close and personal is!

Haha... isn't this cute? We won a family of bears! 1 large bear and 3 small ones! Haha... right now, they're all placed in ryan's car cos I guess he wanna take them out for a spin round my hse or something. Haha.. who knows. Kids r just amazingly imaginative. :)

So what else did we do during cny itself?
One thing we did was to go for our regular family dinners during the wkend. This year was not unlike last year and we found ourselves back at Clarke quay/ riverside point. After dinner at waraku, we went for a night stroll along the river itself. Oh yeah... by the way, kids meal at waraku's large! Definitely one meal which stretches ur dollar! haha...
Yup! And that's ryan! He was practically like a little monkey jumping from one place to another. Haha... Oh and he loves looking at those little boats too.
The above pix are some pretty boliao pix actually. They were actually taken at a temple near my place. We went for some new year blessings during one of those nights when we were off nanny-duty. Haha. Actually, come to think of it, I guess many wld have thought that we were some tourists or something cos no Singaporean in the right frame of their mind wld wanna snap pix in the middle of the night at a temple I guess? Hahaha

Didn't have time to blog the past wk so here's some dated entries regarding chinese new year.
Haha... this year's cny was different cos we did very little home visits. Well, to be frank, it's not like we've many relatives whom we're still in contact with to visit anyways. But anyhow, Ang baos were delivered to our homes instead! How cool's that?
Oh and thanks to bubu, I picked up loadsa new hokkien words from 881 during the cny hols. I think the best scene was the da2 xiao3 ren2 scene. "U want ang moh? Okay! Beat the little man's head... Beat the little man's head tao hing hing".. Haha.. oh man! That was really hilarious!
There were loadsa cny goodies stocked up at home. Now check tt out! A whole table full of various cny goodies plus a huge hamper which we've yet to open even till now! Haha! And b4 I forget, thanks for ur whole bag of cny goodies too bubu! Appreciate the effort of lugging them to and from work! Muacks! I adore ya! One thing great abt cny's tt I get to eat loadsa tangerines! I love them! Especially those honey tangerines tt taste so heavenly, just like the ones u see above!
Anyways, here's a snapshot of my top 4 favs during cny! Prawn rolls are nice! Just tt they r kinda spicy for me... so the idea is to not take too much of them else I'd be a toilet crasher for sure. Next up... cashew nuts! I love cashew nuts!! Even ryan loves them! Yusheng's definitely something I absolutely love as well. It's REALLY AWESOME! And last but not least, the tarts baked by my malay neighbour. We call her makchit and let me tell ya.. she bakes the best tarts in town. I swear by them! They aren't too sweet and they really melt in ur mouth and i'm by no means exaggerating. Anyways, she's really nice cos she never fails to deliver them every cny ever since I was a kid!
Haha.. the pix above are just some tt I took during the first few days of cny when serene n ben came over to our place with the kids. Haha... They were the redsters cos all 4 of them came in red! haha... Look at Ilyssa in her traditional costume. Isn't she cute?
And there's Ryan, who's also in his traditional costume. Haha... But it sure was a pity cos his pic turned out to be a blur shot! And yup.... tt's sab in her messy hairdo. WAHAHAHA... let's just pray hard she doesn't read this entry else my head's just so gonna roll.

Yeah tt's right! Happy Belated V Day to all of u guys out there! Yesterday was vday and what made it so much better was tt there was no school for me! Haha! Now aren't I lucky? Alright... shan't gloat to all u jealous souls out there! Wahaha!
I know tt many wld say how commercialized v day has become and tt everyday cld be a vday. It didn't have to be on feb the 14. But still, it is a significant day and it's special cos this is a day whereby many wld rmb their other 1/2s and their special friends. If we were to treat every other day as V Day, wld it be any more special then?
Got tt for bubu as a vday gift this year. Ordered it online and thank gdness it was shipped over in time! Haha... I had itchy hands as usual so it turned out to be too colourful i think. It's probably a distraction even. Sorry!! :) But hey! It's the only copy with panda touches available in the world ok! Don't play play! Hahaha... lol "My most meaningful v day after so many years" sure puts a smile to my face. Haha... anyways, glad u liked it!
Met GL in the afternoon right after he was done with school to catch the movie jumper. I rmb seeing its trailer the last time we caught AVP2 and it looked good. So watching it the very first day it's released was it! It's good and i really liked it. But it was too short I think. 88 mins just wasn't enough! Guess it's probably cos a series of jumper 2, 3 etc will be spawned sometime soon? Imagine how great it wld be to possess such powers of being transported instantly to anywhere u'd like to be within seconds. When ur unable to sleep at night, transport urself to some other country tt's still in the day and live it up! The powers of transporting urself somewhere else and doing whatever u want to do, where anywhere is possible. It's like WOW! A dream come true! But sometimes, it can be pretty troublesome too. Imagine having random thoughts abt a place w/o actually really wanting to be there and the next min, before u know it, ur already there. Haha
If u had such powers, what wld u have done? Wld u be like the typical super heroes and start saving the world? Or wld u be like Jumper David who chooses to indulge himself instead? Ask him what occupation he has and he'd say he's in banking. Well, he's not entirely wrong. He is in banking. Just tt he literally transfers money manually by transporting himself. Guess modern day ppl are unlike super heroes. They are selfish. They wld rather use their powers to help themselves and the ppl they love. That is reality. I guess the scene tt best signifies this was when David sat down to catch the news. There were reports on floods in certain areas with ppl left stranded etc but David merely turned off the TV and went out on yet another spree for more self-indulgence.
Like any other movies, there was someone to keep the baddie in check. Paladins (sp?) existed to destroy jumpers. It was strange actually cos technically speaking, I sld be rooting for the paladins. But I realised I was actually rooting for the jumpers. I didn't want them to get caught and destroyed. Instead, I wanted the Paladins to just scram and die and to just mind their own biz. Leave the jumpers alone. So perhaps there really is a baddie in everyone.
After the movie, we rushed down to meet the rest of the other cheapos. Mandy texted us to say tt she was unable to make it cos she sprained her ankle at work while taking my scgs jnrs out on a tour ard IMH. Gosh! Can't believe it! Aft so many years, Miss Sie was still organizing such tours! I can still recall my own tour session! Haha! Come to think of it, she's really a great teacher cos her lessons are always so interesting. Anways, coming back to this, Miss Ho (our tj form teacher) was unable to make it as well cos her relatives were coming over to her place. So that leaves the 4 of us. We waited for YY at the ctrl statn and texted/called her several times but she did not pick up her call. Heeded GL's advice to just go over to dinner's instead of waiting for her and so we did. Jan joined us soon after she was done with work. Turns out tt yy msged her to say tt she was feeling tired and wld not be joining us. !!! YY! Bish bish! The next meal's on u! Hahaha!
Janet wanted steamboat for dinner. Hmm, well well... it seems like i've been having steamboat quite a lot lately. Ate and bitched for a couple of hours. Exchanged gifts too. Thanks! I love it! Now I've got one more to display on my table! Guess it'd make mugging slightly less boring cos I have u guys with me during such torture sessions! Haha! Thanks! And I hope u liked what i got for u too!
Janet kept snapping pix of us while laughing her heads off. Yeahyeah... we looked stupid as usual. WTH! Hey... I took proper shots of u ok! And this was what I got in return? Janet Ma! U rmb! Haha
GL suggested to walk back home like the other time from the interchange. Much as I wanted to, but I cldn't. Had to rush back to help my mom with some stuff. So I gave tt a miss. Apparently, if ur a hokkien, u'd have to pray to ti gong (sky god) last night. Yest was also the night for kids to stay up late (shou ye they call it). Wheee! For once I'm not nagged at to go hit the bed. Permission was granted to stay up as late as I wanted to. :)
Didn't manage to snap a shot of those elaborate offerings and stuff like special joss sticks that turned into gold ashes after they're burnt last night. Was busy. So here's all tt was left this morning sans the elaborateness.

See all those yummy fruits? I can't wait to attack them after they're chilled in the fridge! Oh another thing we had to do was to cut out red circles from sheets of red paper and to stick them on each item. I've no idea what's the meaning of it. But anyhow, i was instructed to do it. I'm not sure why but I'm really unable to cut out proper circles. Everything turned out looking like red hearts instead. It wasn't intentional and instead of scolding me, mom actually praised me for being creative on V day. Phew! Guess she was in a good mood else I wld have had it there and then! Haha
If not for this event, I wld never have found out that there was at least 3 types of ang ku kuehs tt are sold. So far, I've only seen the 1. round and flat ones and 2. the round and sharp ones. I've never seen flat and rectangular ones before like the ones u see in the bottom of this pic. Amusing eh?And so tt was it. Oh yeah... just some updates. GL heeded my advice and accepted his SEP stint at Fudan in the end. I just hope all turns out well and tt he wldn't feel like killing me when he's actually SEP-ing next yr. Hahaha!

It was only just abt a month ago when i celebrated new year's eve with jan and gl and of course, the marina bay crowd. Yesterday felt almost like dejavu again only tt this time, it was countdown to cny with my family! The atmosphere was certainly different, with cny songs blasting in the background and the more bearable crowd who were there for various reasons. We did our usual routine which was to the temple's.
But before tt, we'd usually spend some time reading our fortune for the year before kpo-ing abt others' fortunes. So...where's my moomoo? Moomoos are supposedly lucky this yr, or so it's predicted - be it health, work, finance, romance etc. Hmm... let's just wait and see! Oh! One thing 'bad' for moos will be the fact tt we'd not only be losing sleep but memory as well. Gosh... I already have them. Can't imaging them worsening any further. Haha...
There were so many ppl checking out those fortune boards! And amidst the crowd, guess who I spotted yet again? Mandy!! Haha... It seems to be a yearly affair eh? Saw her there at that very same spot last year. And wow! It's now the following year! Guess she sums it up best when she said 'may we meet at the same spot next year!' Yeah! U bet!

One thing awesome abt cny in Singapore's tt streets are always lively and full of activity, esp in the nights, just like what u see here in this picture. I mean... all the various stalls lining up the pedestrain street gives so much life to the area being such great nodes of activity. Stall vendors shouting out their fares for sale + the crowd + an occassional cai shen ye ('fortune god') roaming the streets while distributing his red packets of well wishes does add a cny feel to an otherwise increasingly westernised singapore i think.

As it wasn't exactly 12am yet, many were waiting outside and along the sides within the temple with their lighted joss sticks of various lengths and thickness. Apparently they were waiting for the stroke of midnight to jostle for first place in sticking their joss sticks into the urn. I'm not really sure what the reason is for that though. But anyways, we didn't join in the wait as my eyes were already feeling really uncomfortable being all watery and stuff.
